In case you are not already familiar with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), they are an Alabama-based non-profit that monitors hate groups and other “fringe” organizations. The first question I ask whenever I see this group in the news is, “why is CNN consulting a hate group watch-dog?” I wasn’t aware that in 2010, the biggest threat to black America was the KKK. Hate groups are now irrelevant. Minorities have bigger problems, like unemployment and less access to education, neither of which are problems that are perpetuated by Neo-Nazis and White Knights.So what does the SPLC do without hate groups to monitor? They marginalize opposition groups as extremists in order to support an agenda of big-government and totalitarian thought. They fill the void of hate groups in America by classifying constitutionally recognized organizations, such as the Tea Party Movement and local militias, as violent, paranoid, racist, and anti-government splinter cells of anarchy. They are the Senator McCarthy of the 21st Century. And they are just as scary, because for now, the public seems to take their judgments as scientific.
Today they were interviewed on CNN.com on the matter of nine militia members who were indicted on charges of plotting to kill a law enforcement officer. Obviously, these nine people are morons and deserve to be called extremists. What is disturbing though is the SPLC’s labeling of the group as a “Patriot” militia group. They classify Patriots as: "militias and other organizations that see the federal government as part of a plot to impose 'one-world government' on liberty-loving Americans."
Ok, I think it is safe to no longer refer to one-world government as a conspiracy “plot.” With free trade, multi-national corporations, the World Bank, OPEC, NATO, climate-change treaties, and international counter-terrorism, a one-world government seems like it is halfway here. The fact that the SPLC wants to categorize American groups that believe in this oncoming reality as extremists, should be a warning sign to all Americans, that the SPLC is not here to monitor hate groups, but to create hate groups out of ordinary Americans expressing their right to dissent, assembly, and militias. They are hunting witches for big government, and they should be called out just like McCarthy, before lives are ruined and freedoms are lost.
